1462 - The taking of Gibraltar by which the Castilian-Leonese kingdom Nazari reconquer Gibraltar.
1585 - Eighty Years' War: Siege of Antwerp – Antwerp is captured by Spanish forces under Alexander Farnese, Duke of Parma, who orders Protestants to leave the city and as a result over half of the 100,000 inhabitants flee to the northern provinces.

2017 - ‘Terrorist massacre in La Rambla in Barcelona’ - ISIS claim responsibility for the massive running down of people which caused 13 deaths and 88 injured. Four jihadists were shot dead in Cambrils when planning another massacre. A small rented van launched into the crowd which fled terrified – among the victims are children and people from more than twenty nationalities. Shops, offices and transport systems were closed in an instant.
