Saint’s Day for Eucario

A public holiday in Spain for the holy day which celebrates the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, ‘La Inmaculada Concepción,’ the patron virgin of Spain.

1491 - Seven Christian knights enter Granada, including Hernán Pérez del Pulgar, to confer secretly with Boabdil, on the conditions of surrender of the city.
1504 - Ahmad ibn Abi Jum'ah writes his Oran fatwa, arguing for the relaxation of Islamic law requirements for the forcibly converted Muslims in Spain
1585 - The Miracle of Empel is produced, by which the Immaculate Conception is proclaimed patroness of the Spanish Tercios.

1443 - Rodrigo Ponce de León, Duke of Cádiz, was one of the Castilian military leaders in the conquest of Granada. In 1482 he led the Castilian forces that captured the town of Alhama and later Boabdil. He had earlier been one of the military leaders in the Castillian War of Succession, Juan Pacheco was his father-in-law. Born in Arcos de la Frontera (d. August 28, 1492 in Sevilla)
